Battle of Blaauwberg Festival

A very successful 200 year anniversary of the Battle of Blaauwberg was held in 2006.

The 210th anniversary was held on 9 Jan 2016 on Blaauwberg Farm (also called Joyce’s Dairy) and the BBNR.  Nearly 200 keen participants joined in a 10 km Trail Run and 10/5 km Fun Walk.   A tent on the actual battle site was the venue of a very informative talk by Willem Steenkamp, expert on the Battle of Blaauwberg, as well as an interesting exhibition of artefacts found on the Battle of Blaauwberg site up to now.

The Festival will become a regular occurrence in January every year. See Upcoming Events for next date.

Battle Up Blaauwberg Trail Run

The very popular Battle Up Blaauwberg Trail Run occurs in Spring every year.  It is organised by the West Coast Athletic Club in partnership with the FoBCA and the City of Cape Town.  With views of Table Mountain, Robben Island and Table Bay, participants can choose between the 15km or 8km routes over Blaauwberg Hill and Kleinberg, and through the colourful spring vegetation within the nature reserve.  The route is a mixture of jeep track, sand and hiking trail with some single file and climbing areas –  ideal as an entry level run into trail running.

See Upcoming Events for date of next Trail Run.
